The Spyro Reignited Trilogy has been officially announced. Back in February, we heard that the company may be thinking of giving the original Spyro trilogy the same treatment it gave to Crash Bandicoot, and today, Activision confirmed those reports. The most recent leak happened this very morning, with Amazon Mexico accidentally letting Spyro Reignited Trilogy out of the bag early. The Spyro remake will hit store shelves later this year on September 21. Previous rumors stated that Vicarious Visions (under Activision) would handle a remastered trilogy, but as the leaked art hinted, the games have been remade from the ground up by lead developer Toys for Bob. The Spyro Reignited Trilogy introduces players to a completely remastered game collection with a re-imagined cast of characters, brand-new lighting, animations, environments, and recreated cinematics-all in stunning HD.

Spyro's back and he's all scaled up! The choice is rather fitting since Skylanders was essentially branded around Spyro, though Toys for Bob did not make the first game, Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure. Tom Kenny, the voice actor for Spyro in the second and third instalment of the original series, has returned to play the iconic violet dragon in the upcoming trilogy.
