US set for deeply controversial Jerusalem embassy move

"I went to the hospital and I knew she was dead".

They killed 60 people and injured well over 1,000 with live fire, according to Gaza's Health Ministry.

A relative of Palestinian Ahmed al-Rantisi, killed during a protest at the Israel-Gaza border, is consoled at a hospital in the northern Gaza Strip on May 14, 2018.

Monday's violence took place as the USA opened its new embassy in Jerusalem.

"Who among us would accept this type of activity on your border?" "That is violence that should occupy our attention, too", Haley said. "And then in the other half was [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu and Ivanka Trump, literally drinking champagne in the U.S. Embassy opening", Green added.

While addressing a UNSC meeting Riyad Mansour said that the U.S. was responsible for the Palestinian deaths.

Moran, who is the first British MP to be of Palestinian descent, said that hope "had died" this week - but that Britain could resurrect it through recognising the Palestinian state. Israel was accused of carrying out a "bloodbath" by Human Rights Watch, while Amnesty International said its soldiers may have committed war crimes.

Israel said it is defending its border and accuses Hamas of trying to carry out attacks under the cover of the protests.

Afghani said she'd like the Canadian government at least tell the Israeli ambassador that this is not OK.

State broadcaster TRT said the ambassador was being told to leave.

In December 2017, eight other countries voted against a United Nations resolution telling America to not recognise Jerusalem as the country's capital.

While other representatives condemned the killing of Palestinians by live fire in the strongest terms, Haley merely said, "We are all concerned about violence in the Middle East".

Eventually, pro-Palestinian demonstrators took to the streets.

Nevertheless, the solidarity movement is growing, according to Abunimah, who said that images of Ivanka Trump, the U.S. president's daughter, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu cheering on the opening of the United States embassy in Jerusalem as Palestinian are being gunned down "produces real, visceral disgust in people".

Haley was a rare voice slamming the Hamas terror group and speaking out in favor of Israel at an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council called over Monday's deadly fighting.

The move comes after the USA on Tuesday blocked the adoption of a joint UN Security Council statement calling for an independent investigation.

Israeli forces can use non-lethal means prevent unauthorized crossings of borders, but worldwide law prohibits the deliberate use of lethal force in policing situations except when necessary to stave off an immediate threat to life.
