Stardew Valley Finally Coming To PlayStation Vita This Month

Stardew Valley PS Vita release date confirmed

Stardew Valley PS Vita release date confirmed

This is no surprise, really, given that Sony previously said PlayStation Vita is "not an active line" for Sony outside of Japan and some parts of Asia.

In Stardew Valley, you inherit your grandfather's old farm and armed with some hand-me-down tools and a few coins, you set out to begin your new country life!

It's been reported that Sony Interactive Entertainment is ending physical production of PlayStation Vita games in the company's American and European branches by close of fiscal year 2018 in March 31, 2019. With Nintendo's Switch now the preferred platform for those sorts of experiences, the writing is most definitely on the wall for Sony's handheld.

The PlayStation Vita has been facing an uphill battle since its launch. A series of missteps with the handheld console made it largely inaccessible and expensive, even if it was ahead of its time (a look back on the Vita is grounds for a whole article of its own). If any developers want their games to have a physical presence on the Vita, they'll have to get their orders in post-haste. Fans have long complained about the inflated prices of these proprietary cards, so at this point, what does Sony have to lose by making them more budget friendly? To help circumvent the piracy problems that plagued the PSP, Sony used a bespoke memory card on the Vita - and that thing has always sold for stupid amounts of money. Probably not, but it's nice to dream.
