Whitney Biopic Hints Bobbi Kristina Brown's Suicide Attempt Before Her Mother's Death

Directed by Oscar victor Kevin Macdonald, the film explores the late singer's life and features interviews with those closest to her.

(Houston would have been a toddler at the time.) The claim is supported by Houston's assistant Mary Jones (often referred to as "Aunt Mary"), who says the singer spoke of being "molested at a young age" by a woman.

A trailer released on Wednesday that gives an inside look into the life of the iconic Whitney Houston shows the legendary vocalist shading another performer for singing "off key". An interviewee speaking off camera in the teaser can be heard saying "Robyn was [Houston's] safety net" and "Bobby was jealous".

"He wanted to be on the stage, he wanted to be in the forefront", the person contends in the clip.

The video features archival footage of Whitney from her younger years to the height of her fame, including her contentious relationship with Bobby Brown.

"I never knew there was any addiction", Reid says, despite the longstanding stories about both Brown and Houston's struggle with drug abuse.

The film will also highlight Houston's relationship with her mother who was admittedly tough on her superstar daughter.

The trailer shows the seven-time Grammy victor opening up about the ugly side of celebrity ("People think it's easy, but it's not") and trash-talking fellow singer Paula Abdul ("That girl is singing off-key on the record"). The trailer for Whitney places "heart" as a pivotal point in the documentary, which is appropriate, as it is the first Whitney Houston documentary to be made with the permission of the Houston family estate.

Of course, it's Houston's mother, Cissy, who closes the trailer.

If you need us before then, we'll be refining our "I Will Always Love You" rendition.
