The White House is also distracted by Yanny/Laurel social media storm

Trump hears 'covfefe' as White House aides weigh in on 'Yanny' and 'Laurel'

Thursday afternoon the White House weighed in on the greatest debate of our time: Laurel vs. Yanny.

The voice recording, which appears to be from a toy and was shared on Reddit on Wednesday night, appears to say either "brainstorm" or "green needle" - depending on which one you think about.

"It's laurel, but I could deflect and divert to yanny if you need me too", Conway said.

"All I hear is Yanny". "There's also the question of what platform you heard the recording on first â€" the differences in the audio could have something to do with how Twitter or Instagram compresses video files. You may also hear both, or flip between the two.

The clip opens with Ivanka Trump and includes cameo appearances by Kellyanne Conway, Sarah Sanders, Larry Kudlow, VP Mike Pence and President Trump himself (plus several more people I don't recognize).

"Clearly you're getting your information from CNN because that's fake news", Sanders said to the cameraman, who said it was "reported that you hear Laurel". "If you're not picking up on those higher frequencies then it sounds more like Laurel".

Windle believes the debate has gone viral because people can't imagine how others aren't hearing things the same way that they hear them.

"Like a radio, our brains can selectively tune into them, once we know what to listen out for".
