Russian Federation welcomes Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's decision to send a delegation to the United Nations to set up the constitutional committee, President Vladimir Putin said at talks with the Syrian leader on Thursday.

"With the beginning of the political course of in its most lively part, overseas armed forces will withdraw from Syrian territory", Putin mentioned, with out specifying which overseas forces.

The two presidents have noted necessity of creating additional conditions for a full-format political process in Syria, Peskov said.

Russian Federation has been concerned in Syria's civil warfare since September 2015.

Mr Putin's spokesman said Mr Assad had made a decision to "send a delegation to the UN" to discuss reforming the country's constitution.

Assad previously visited Russian Federation and met Mr Putin in November 2017 and October 2015.

"The next task, of course, the economic recovery and humanitarian aid for those people in a hard situation", Mr Putin added. "I have always said, and now I repeat once again, that we always enthusiastically support the political process, which should go hand in hand with the fight against terrorism", Assad said.

According to a Kremlin statement, Mr Assad said "stability is improving" in Syria, "opening the door to the political process we started some time ago". "However with you and different companions and pals, we are going to proceed to make sturdy progress within the peace course of", Assad was quoted as saying within the assertion.
