Really, there's no age to go through something like what all of the victims went through.

Twenty-two concertgoers were killed, and police say more than 800 people were left "with physical and deep psychological injuries".

Before William left the city he attached a note to one of the Trees of Hope, a trail of small Japanese maple trees from Victoria Station to St Ann's Square, to add to the many thousands of similar messages of support and hope left by members of the public. The city organized several events to mark the anniversary, including a memorial service attended by Prime Minister Theresa May and a choral concert by 3,000 singers.

He also told the crowd that the 22 candles lit in tribute to the victims at Manchester Cathedral had been made from the remnants of the hundreds left around the city in the aftermath of the attack.

Rashford, from Wythenshawe in the south of the city, wrote on United's website of his memories of growing up in Manchester and what it means to him.

Mayor Andy Burnham said the anniversary is a day to come together.

"May the kindness and fortitude we witnessed that night triumph and the great spirit of Manchester never be vanquished". Her post included an emoji of a bee, the city emblem that became a symbol of unity and defiance after her tragedy-struck show.

A mass 30-minute communal singalong finale promises to be the highlight of the concert, with songs including Grande's One Last Time, One Day Like This by Elbow, Don't Look Back In Anger by Oasis and Never Forget by Take That.

On May 22, 2017, at the conclusion of Grande's concert at the Manchester Arena, an explosion set off in the foyer by suicide bomber Salman Abedi, a British national of Libyan descent, killed 22 concertgoers and wounded at least 119. Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the bombing and have requested the extradition of the attacker's brother from Libya for questioning as part of the investigation. I was both excited and a bit nervous to meet them all but, honestly, it was one of the most special occasions I can remember.

So, it seems fitting the crowd remembered the tragic day with music. It is believed that Abedi was part of a terrorist network.

Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, delivered a reading from 1 Corinthians 13. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth.

Leaders of the catholic and protestant churches, as well as figures from the Sikh, Jewish, Muslim and Humanist communities also read at the service.

"United", a single featuring the Manchester Survivors Choir.

USA pop star Grande tweeted: "Thinking of you all today and every day".

Grande later went on to hold a huge charity concert, One Love Manchester, which raised millions to help the victims of the attack and their families. The benefit, which was broadcast live throughout the world, brought together survivors and others to hear performers such as Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Demi Lovato, Robbie Williams and Liam Gallagher.

The sing-along saw performances from 10 singing groups, including the Manchester Survivors Choir, who sang a tearful version of Andra Day's Rise Up to rapturous applause, and the Parrs Wood High School Harmony Group.
