Liverpool, who will play the UEFA Champions League final against Real Madrid at Kiev on Saturday (May 26), will amplify their efforts of signing Nabil Fekir this summer, according to reports from The Guardian.

Fekir is considered a direct replacement for the departed Philippe Coutinho, who left Liverpool for Barcelona in January.

Liverpool bigwigs look set to back Jurgen Klopp during this transfer window.

Liverpool are expected to lose Emre Can to Juventus on a free transfer but will be reinforced in midfield by the arrival of Naby Keita from Red Bull Leipzig.

A swoop for Fekir could take their summer spending past the £100m mark.

Despite the fact that club president Jean-Michel Aulas claiming that Lyon don't want to sell their star midfielder, he did state that any club wanting to buy Fekir this summer will need to be a "very rich club".

"He has magnificently earned the right to go to Russian Federation with the French national team", Aulas said.

"For the moment, nothing has been decided".

Christian Pulisic admits he once dreamed of playing in the Premier League but insists he is "very focused" on matters at Borussia Dortmund.

This came after reports, originating in France, of Liverpool's interest in the versatile midfielder, with the initial suggestion being the two clubs had already agreed a £62 million fee.

He has not dropped any clear hints as to his future, simply commenting: "We'll see", when asked to discuss speculation earlier this month.

The Reds are hoping to seal the deal to secure the services of the Lyon captain following the Champions League final this weekend.
