Mignolet played a key role to get Liverpool's Champions League campaign up and running.

Liverpool fan Spencer Evans, from Rhyl, is now flying to Kiev in the hope of getting another ticket.

Anderson challenged World Choice Sports to organise the planes to make use of the landing times he had negotiated saying he was "amazed it's not been sorted".

Liverpool's mayor spoke to Kiev's mayor, former boxing champion Vitali Klitschko, and flights were reinstated.

Financial adviser Jason McGimpsey was told on Thursday his flight was cancelled.

"With conversations that we're having with [Liverpool] John Lennon airport, we might be able to have some flights that are available tomorrow and get into Kiev early evening", he said in a video posted on Twitter.

"He had all his flights and accommodation booked and he just needed a ticket so I just passed it on to him with the thought that we weren't going to be going".

He said: "No final decision yet but really not looking good - unable to resolve flight situation".

He is hopeful he will get a ticket when he lands in Kiev.

In a statement tweeted on Friday, it said it had been able to utilise one of the slots it had booked but it would have been on a different date and for three nights instead of one night.

Hundreds of supporters are now expected to miss the showpiece match in Ukraine on Saturday after operator Worldchoice Sports cancelled three flights because it did not have sufficient landing slots at Boryspil Airport.

"We are hugely disappointed and frustrated at the utter shambles loyal fans have been put through. I am absolutely disgusted and there is nothing I can do about it", he told the BBC.

"The airline said they could go ahead, so what's happened?"

Worldchoice Sports' website said the firm had "worked extremely hard over the last 48 hours trying to resolve these issues". With support of @Vitaliy_Klychko, #Kievairport & carrier we had plane & landing slot but crew were coming from the U.S. and crew rest time a huge barrier. We have had them from Liverpool airport and Manchester airport, and we have applied for slots in the correct manner and timeframe with the authorities.
