Redmond O'Neal 33 faces multiple charges including attempted murder authorities say

The son of actors Ryan O'Neal and the late Farrah Fawcett is in custody again, this time accused of a violent crime spree in Southern California.

O'Neal faces multiple charges including two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and one count each of attempted murder, criminal threats and brandishing a knife and one count of battery.

O'Neal - who has had a history of drug and legal troubles - allegedly began his attacks on passersby last Saturday and continued through Tuesday in Venice Beach and Palms neighbourhoods, authorities have said.

Just three hours later a man was found laying in a pool of blood on a Venice street with stab wounds to his face and upper body. In addition to second degree robbery, he was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a smoking device, possession of an injection/ingestion device, and two counts of possessing a controlled substance (meth and heroin).

All five alleged attacks involve a suspect whose description, at least partially, matches that of O'Neal, including being white, with red hair and distinct tattoos. Police said he became angry after the victim appeared to look at him, and he then punched the victim and armed himself with a glass bottle, police said.

He allegedly threatened a store clerk with a knife, demanding all of the money in the cash register.

Redmond James O'Neal is seen in a booking photo released by LAPD on June 8, 2018.

Police said they connected the earlier five crimes to the suspect while he was being held on the robbery charge. As it was previously reported, O'Neal pleaded guilty on the 11th of May to robbing a store in Santa Monica. Scotty Stevens told the news station, adding that the crimes appeared to be random.

The troubled son of actors Ryan O'Neal and Farrah Fawcett has been charged with attempted murder.

The charges against O'Neal were filed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office on Friday, police said.

He is the only child of the late Emmy-award-winning Fawcett, who died of cancer in 2009 and was best known for her role in TV show Charlie's Angels.
