Priyanka Chopra apologised for a recent episode in "Quantico", following online backlash for the "Indian nationalists" terror plot line in her show.

Chopra, who is one of the highest-paid Indian actors, featured a year ago in Baywatch, based on the television series of the same name.

"That was not and would never be my intention", she added. It was not our intention to offend anyone'.

The problematic episode which aired on June 1, had Federal Bureau of Investigation agent Alex Parrish (played by Priyanka), derailing a terrorist attack by a group of Indian nationalists.

Priyanka Chopra and ABC have both apologized for "The Blood of Romeo", a recent episode of "Quantico" featuring Indian terrorists.

"Latest episode of Quantico is about Hindu men with Rudrakshas [prayer beads] who are identified as Indian nationalists with knowledge of Indian government planning a Nuclear attack and blaming Pakistan and the Great priyanka chopra with Federal Bureau of Investigation team stops it", another wrote.

And when Cohen point-blank asked if there was a "possibility" of Chopra dating Jonas in the future, she dodged the question, exclaiming, "Listen, these questions on this show".

Quantico first aired in 2015 and Priyanka Chopra has twice won People's Choice Award for her portrayal of Alex Parrish, who started off a Federal Bureau of Investigation rookie, who graduates to become a Central Intelligence Agency agent. When the plotter is caught, Chopra's character Alex Parrish discovers he has Hindu prayer beads, confirmation that he is an Indian nationalist, and the bombing was meant to frame Pakistan.

Ms Chopra declared herself a "proud Indian" in a tweet and "extremely saddened" by any hurt caused by the show.

Earlier, ABC Studios and executive producers of the TV series had issued an apology for the same.

Priyanka Chopra posted a heartfelt tribute for her father Ashok Chopra's fifth death anniversary, on Instagram.

"I did a talk a year ago on Hollywood and Propaganda, specifically how Muslims are treated in film", she stated.

Quantico is now airing its third and final season.

ABC released its own statement on the controversy, apologizing if the fictional storyline offended anyone.
