England No 8 Billy Vunipola has been ruled out of the final Test against the Springboks after re-fracturing his arm in Bloemfontein.

The touring England team threw away a 12-0 lead to concede 23 unanswered points to South Africa on Saturday, extending a miserable run in Test matches.

It was later confirmed that the Saracens forward had suffered a recurrence of the injury which forced him out for much of last season.

Ellis Genge, the Leicester prop, has also returned to the United Kingdom after picking up a knee injury in training last week, while Mako Vunipola's tour is also over as he flew back on a happier note to attend the birth of his first child.

Alec Hepburn from Exeter Chiefs has been called up to provide front-row cover as England seek to snap a six-match losing streak since February.

England return to their camp on the Indian Ocean on Sunday before heading to Cape Town on Wednesday to finalise preparations for the final Test, which has been rendered meaningless by their latest collapse.

"The RFU supports Eddie Jones and his coaching team", a spokeswoman said.

Ben Youngs give interview to Sky Sports after South African defeat.

Asked if he can reverse the slide, Jones said: 'I'm 100 per cent confident - 100 per cent as you are aggressive.

Jones was initially lauded when he took the job after England were knocked out of the 2015 World Cup in the pool phase and led them to 18 successive wins.

"Your nature is very aggressive, mate".

"We know we can be better and win these games, so it's down to us to bring it together for a full 80 minutes". "That's fine. I'm happy to answer that aggressive questioning".

Hepburn, 25, has two previous caps, both from this year's Six Nations, with the last against Wales at Twickenham on February 10.

"I haven't had too many times when I have experienced this".

England's World Cup-winning coach from 2003 has urged the current man in charge to make five alterations for next Saturday's clash in Cape Town.

"I don't think that [ill discipline] was the case - there was one scuffle with Faf De Klerk and Billy Vunipola. but I didn't see anything else", he said.

"Sometimes you go through these periods, we're all hurting, we've just got to keep at it and find the solution".

It was always going to be hard to break down an improved Bok defence in the final 10 minutes with a man down and the home side held on for the series win.
