Pakistan cricketer Ahmed Shehzad has been, reportedly, tested positive for use of a prohibited substance. Indiscipline has seen him being ignored by the Pakistan selectors time and again and now a failed dope test.

Sources have informed that World Anti-Doping Agency will decide action against the Pakistani opener.

The player will be given a chance to explain his side of the story and also has the option of giving a second sample for testing if he believes the first one resulted in an erroneous result. The decision is expected to be announced in the next five days.

Another source told The News that PCB would set up a committee to hold an inquiry against the cricketer before deciding the scope of punishment. Based on the dope test development Shehzad might lose his contract.

Leading Pakistani journalist Zainab Abbas tweeted, "Ahmad Shahzad has been tested positive for Marijuana - the test was conducted prior to the Scotland series during Pakistan Cup".

"But under ICC rules, PCB can not name the player or chargesheet him until the chemical report is CONFIRMED by the Anti-Dope Agency of the government".

Earlier in the day, the media department of the Pakistan Cricket Board had put out a tweet stating the details, which was retweeted by the Board.

According to a report on cricbuzz, Shehzad, who recently played for Pakistan in the Twenty20 series against Scotland, was tested during the Pakistan Cup where he played for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
