THR reports that Kurtzman will receive $5million per year, where he will expand the Star Trek franchise into new series, miniseries and animation.

CBS Television Studios declined to confirm any specific projects, but we hear there are three different Trek concepts now in development.

Captain's Log, June 20, 2018: The Hollywood Reporter are under the impression that Star Trek Discovery showrunner Alex Kurtzman has inked a deal to swell the Star Trek TV show ranks.

Patrick Stewart looks to reprise his iconic role - no, the other one - of Captain Jean-Luc Picard for a new "Star Trek" series, reports The Live Feed.

Kurtzman was recently named the new/latest showrunner for CBS All Access' Discovery, as a result of the embattled space saga's latest behind-the-scenes shake-up.

Director Alex Kurtzman arrives for the premiere of the film "The Mummy" in NY, U.S., June 6, 2017.

The unexpected twist ending of Through the Mirror continues, with the same creative team continuing the story in the Terra Incognita series, set during Star Trek: The Next Generation's critically acclaimed fourth season. CBS TV Studios declined to confirm the project. As a result, news that Kurtzman would develop new "Star Trek" was seen as Stewart's door to return by many. Along with executive producing Star Trek: Discovery, Kurtzman has credits on J.J. Abrams' film adaptations of the series, so he has had some pretty significant experience with the Star Trek universe.

David Stapf, the president of CBS Television Studios, remarked that of all the writers, producers, and directors that film and television studios want to work with, "Alex and his Secret Hideout team are always at the top".

Kurtzman is now working alongside Jenny Lumet in developing The Man Who Fell to Earth for Hulu.

A limited series based around Khan Noonien Singh, which is likely the project which Nicholas Meyer has been developing. Think something along the lines of a CW show in the Star Trek universe, and than stop rolling your eyes because most CW shows are pretty fun if you think about it. He has also written, directed or produced such projects as INSTINCT, SALVATION and the recently completed run of "Scorpion" for CBS, as well as "Mission Impossible III", "The Proposal", "Sleepy Hollow", "Alias" and "Fringe".
