England’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek wants bigger Chelsea role or may leave

England midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek is eager to play regularly for Chelsea next season but said that the lofty expectations at the Premier League club makes it hard for academy players to break into the first team.

It is understood that up to a dozen clubs, from the Premier League and overseas, have registered an interest with Chelsea, but I believe they were told that Loftus-Cheek would not be moving.

Loftus-Cheek came off the bench in England's 2-1 win over Tunisia and could be handed a starting berth against Panama on Sunday if Dele Alli fails to recover from a thigh strain.

I understand that Chelsea's hierarchy have made it known to the player's representatives that they have no plans to sell him, despite huge interest. I want to play - I want to play as much as I can.

"I like playing on the big stage, so making my debut at Wembley against Germany, the world champions, just made me really excited", added Loftus-Cheek, who has taken on a personal fitness programme, including yoga, to ease the back problems that had also threatened to hamper his development. Even this past season I didn't play as much as I would have liked to because of the injuries.

Loftus-Cheek made his first appearance at the World Cup in England's win over Tunisia, entering the game as a late substitute and helping the team grab a late victor. "I'm focused on the tournament".

Newcastle eye loan swoops for Chelsea trioLoftus-Cheek excelled at Palace, forcing his way into England's World Cup squad, and now wants to kick on with his career. Loftus Cheek oozes class on the ball and can be vital for Chelsea because he wants to prove his worth and is hungry for more game time.

Loftus-Cheek's issue may not necessarily be competition.

CHELSEA next manager odds: Antonio Conte is on the verge of leaving Stamford Bridge, but who could replace him? He wouldn't have had the adaptation time to the Premier League that was required by Bakayoko.
