WhatsApp rolls out one-way broadcast feature for groups

WhatsApp group admins decide who can send messages

"The Request Account Info feature allows you to request and export a report of your WhatsApp account information and settings", the company had said. We can certainly see plenty of admins using this new possibility to wreak havoc on their group chats.

If you have not received the latest WhatsApp update, go to your app store, and manually update the application. However, users can contact administrators if they wish to send an important message to the group.

WhatsApp is now rolling out a new feature to their messaging app which should make it easier for organizations or groups to send out announcements to members of the group.

The "Send Messages" feature in groups lets group administrators disable chat features in a group. This setting is rolling out to all users around the world on the latest supported versions of the app. All other participants will not be able to send text messages, images, videos, and voice messages in the group if the "Only Admins" option is selected for the Send Messages feature. Once the permission has been changed, all group participants will be notified in the group with a particular message.

"Today, we're launching a new group setting where only admins are able to send messages to a group".

Meanwhile, a "protection" feature has also been introduced, so that users can not be repeatedly added to groups they have already left.

Actually, as is often the case for WhatsApp, users have unofficially adopted channel-like behavior for some time.
