Police charge man over 16-year-old girl's murder

The wanted 34-year-old Zlatko Sikorsky has surrendered to Queensland Police

He is expected to face the Maroochydore Magistrates Court this morning.

Accused killer Zlatko Sikorsky, who is wanted by police in connection with the murder of teenager Larissa Beilby, remains holed up in an apartment at the Sunshine Coast, where a police siege has continued for nearly a day.

POLICE will allege teenager Larissa Beilby was brutally beaten by Zlatko Sikorsky in the lead-up to her death and before she was dumped in a barrel at a property south of Brisbane.

Sikorsky was charged by police with murder and misconduct with a corpse on Sunday after a tense 28-hour siege but he is refusing to speak with officers, Nine News reported.

Police earlier confirmed Ms Beilby was "associated" with Sikorsky who was able to make another getaway in a different auto.

"With a broken heart shattered into more than a million pieces our family is utterly destroyed to inform you all that Larissa has been taken from us", Larissa's sister Deanna posted on Facebook on Sunday.

Insp Hansen said police were still appealing for information about Sikorsky's relationship with Ms Beilby.

"There was a blue barrel with, all I've seen is an arm flapping out, it was a little bit scary", she told reporters.

"Fly high our darling angel, until we see you again Rissy".

Beilby was reported missing from the suburb of Sandgate on June 15.

Police are providing counselling for the 16-year-old's parents and relatives after confirming Larissa had been murdered.

"Seventy-two hours after we commenced an investigation, we had a male person in custody, so from our perspective it has been very successful."

Police were called to the Stapylton complex where they found the badly decomposed body stuffed into a barrel on the ute's tray.

The location of the body sparked a manhunt for Sikorsky who was located on Friday afternoon at a unit at Alexandra Headland on the Sunshine Coast.

The resident of the unit where Sikorsky remained for more than a day revealed he unknowingly let the suspect into his home.

Supt White praised investigators as well as the public for the swift arrest of Sikorsky.

The woman and the second man are due to appear in Maroochydore magistrates court on Monday.

It will be alleged a 40-year-old Palmwoods woman assisted Sikorsky getting to the unit complex.
