We have to learn to suffer, says Brazil's Neymar

The Brazil superstar's form and perceived penchant for theatrics have been roundly criticised at this tournament, including by Mexico coach Juan Carlos Osorio after their match.

There was something about Kylian Mbappe's performance against Argentina at the weekend which seemed to unite the entire footballing world.

Brazil defeated Mexico 2-0.

But Neymar's sparkling performance was tarnished by yet another example of his tendency to overreact to seemingly innocuous challenges.

As social media platforms exploded with fans angrily accusing Neymar of cheating, former England striker Alan Shearer described the Paris Saint-Germain star as "absolutely pathetic".

"There is no doubting the ability of him... he is a magnificent player".

"In the last two matches I didn't talk to the press because there's too many people talking, some people get excited and show off. He is a magnificent player", said Shearer, who is working in Russian Federation for Britain's BBC.

Neymar's influence was clear in stats that showed that in Russian Federation he has attempted more shots and created more goalscoring chances than any other player. "I don't much care for criticism, not even for praise, because this can influence in a way the athlete's attitude". "I just have to play, help my teammates, help my team".

"Neymar was out for three-and-a-half months". Alongside those rapid sorties came more considered touches and the back-heel with which he released Willian before the opening goal, a constructive move rather than an extravagance, was indicative of a player thinking about consequences rather than simply revelling in actions.

Against Mexico, Neymar burst into life after Brazil weathered early pressure from opponents determined to end a 32-year wait to reach the quarter-finals.

According to The Guardian, the 26-year-old, who was accused of feigning injury in the World Cup round of 16 match, pays no attention to the criticism he's had for his perceived play acting.

Two minutes from time, his poked shot beat goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa and Roberto Firmino was on hand to prod it home to seal the result.

"I saw what happened, look at the video, you can say nothing", the coach told a post-match news conference.

"I'm here to win so I hope that I can improve, I knew I would need time to get back to my normal pace".
