LeBron James weighing many options as free agency looms

Speculation centres on contenders, including the Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers and Boston Celtics, but James shed no light on his plans in multiple interviews broaching the topic.

In a press release on Friday, TUMS announced that they will be offering free heartburn medicine to the Cavs faithful should the four-time MVP depart.

LeBron was spotted landing on a private plane in Los Angeles earlier on Saturday, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's Lakers bound.

"The one thing that I've always done is considered, obviously, my family".

With free agency only a few hours away, it is being reported that LeBron James will not hold a meeting with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Teams can begin negotiations with free agents at 12:01 a.m. Sunday. However, James could still re-sign with Cleveland, although the strong current from national media is that he appears ready to move. The team can offer the three-time National Basketball Association champion more years and money (five years, $207 million) than any other team.

Kanter, who had originally hoped to sign a long-term contract this summer, told ESPN in a phone interview he took out an insurance policy that will pay him $20 million if he suffers a career-threatening injury because he will be playing on a one-year deal. Cleveland has deep salary-cap issues - partially caused by James' failure to commit long-term - and the Cavs now lack enough talent to unseat the champion Golden State Warriors.

WHY: Salary-cap space; business interests; iconic franchise.

LeBron resides in LA during the offseason, and has done for many a year now, but with the Lakers being his most likely destination in free agency, every detail of his life pertaining to the Los Angeles area is being analysed in microscopic detail.

WHY NOT: Youth; the Western Conference. But does he have enough time to let a group of unproven players with no postseason experience develop into a title contender? James is said to be looking for a place he could contend.

WHY NOT: Too young; front-office dysfunction. What James will choose to do in free agency is a mystery to everybody, but as time goes on it will start to become at least a little more clear. Even signings like Trevor Ariza or JJ Redick would be a huge help to the Cavs.
