U.K. Defense Secretary Gavin Williamson was left baffled and embarrassed after his iPhone "heckled" him while he was giving members of parliament an update on the fight against Daesh. He was speaking about Islamic State terrorists in Syria when Siri ― triggered by the country's name ― chimed in.

A red-faced Mr Williamson can be seen reaching for his pocket to get his phone and turn off the voice assistant Siri as it said: "I found something on the web for Syrian democratic forces supported by".

As he remembered where he had put his phone, the Speaker interjected with "What a very rum business that is", to a background of general laughter.

According to Williamson, he suggests that this might be the first instance of someone being heckled by their own mobile device.

Mr Williamson went on to tell MPs how "the battle against the poison of Daesh is not quite over".

Williamson added that he would continue his speech, "without the help and support of Siri".

But if you're, say, the British Secretary of Defence who's talking to Parliament about conflicts in the Middle East when Siri decides to pipe up, it's a very different situation indeed. Siri was heard saying as the MP paused and tried to figure out where the voice was coming from.

In April, Transport Minister Jo Johnson also experienced a similar interruption during an appearance on BBC's Question Time.
