Here’s When We Happy Few Is Releasing In Australia Shannon Grixti

This overturns a prior ruling that effectively banned the game from sale in Australia after the board refused to give We Happy Few a rating. "In this context, our game's overarching social commentary is no different than Aldous Huxley's Brave New World, or Terry Gilliam's Brazil". "We Happy Few will be rated R18+ in Australia", said Compulsion in an official statement on its blog post. With Kickstarter involved in the game's funding, that would've been a whole mess.

"We Happy Few" is an upcoming first-person survival adventure game that explores the dystopian city of Wellington Wells. The core loop of the game is to resist taking the drug and fight the oppression.

That decision, according to the board, was driven by a new decision that the overall impact of the classifiable elements in the computer game was no greater than high.

Gearbox Publishing saw this as a misunderstanding of We Happy Few's themes and issued the appeal that led to this overruling following the decision made late last month.

Good news for Australians as it looks as though We Happy Few has been reclassified meaning that it will now officially be heading to Austrailia for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

The rating was awarded with additional consumer advice in the form of warnings that it does contain "fantasy violence and interactive drug use".
