Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic in action on Wimbledon Day two

John McEnroe 'Kyrgios is the most talented player since Federer Nadal'

John McEnroe 'Kyrgios is the most talented player since Federer Nadal'

The scoreboard said 6-4 6-3 6-4 to Rafael Nadal but it was an uneasy two-and-a-half hours for the Spanish world number one as he labored past Kazakhstan's Mikhail Kukushkin into the Wimbledon third round on Thursday. Despite entering the action without having played any warmup tournaments on grass, Nadal appeared right at home in London.

Novak Djokovic overcame an apparent thigh problem to beat Horacio Zeballos 6-1, 6-2, 6-3 and reach the third round at Wimbledon.

Nadal is fourth favourite with the bookies to claim an 18th major and will face either France's Pierre-Hugues Herbert or teenage Australian Alex De Minaur in the next round if he comes through today's contest unscathed. And Alexander Zverev was sharp in a 7-5, 6-2, 6-0 demolition over James Duckworth.

Kyrgios, seeded 15, hammered down 42 aces and unleashed 78 winners.

Kvitova was the bookmakers' favourite for the women's title at the All England Club after an impressive return to form this year.

The 32-year-old, who has recently clinched the French Open title, will be playing his first match since his title victory on the clay court three weeks ago.

Juan Martin del Potro also had little trouble in a straight set victory over Peter Gojowczyk.

Thiem, beaten by Rafael Nadal in Paris last month, was 6-4, 7-5, 2-0 down when he quit.

Two more Top 10 seeds tumbled, however.

Del Potro, who made the semifinals in 2013, next faces Feliciano Lopez of Spain who on Tuesday set a record of playing 66 consecutive Grand Slams when he eased past Federico Delbonis of Argentina 6-3, 6-4, 6-2.

"I am happy to go through, I think I played better than the first day".

Dudi Sela, who past year made it to the third round of Wimbledon, will look to give tough competition to the Spaniard as he has good playing record on the grass-court.
