Company announced a recall on July 17. Posted Aug. 1 2018 4:08 PM

The salad was recalled on July 17, 2018. The salad contains shell pasta, carrots, celery, cucumbers, green pepper, onion, and mayonnaise.

All Hy-Vee stores in Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Wisconsin are covered by this recall. Multistate outbreaks comprised of only three percent of all outbreaks reported but accounted for 11 percent of illnesses, 34 percent of hospitalizations, and 54 percent of deaths.

The main outbreak strain of bacteria in this outbreak is Salmonella Sandiego. Healthy people infected with salmonella experience symptoms including fever, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting. Do not eat recalled Hy-Vee Spring Pasta Salad. This Hy Vee Salmonella outbreak and the Fareway Foods outbreak have sickened more than 340 people in the upper Midwest.

Salmonella: Marler Clark, The Food Safety Law Firm, is the nation's leading law firm representing victims of Salmonella outbreaks. "Thousands could be sick, just from eating a salad".

Illnesses started on dates ranging from June 21, 2018, to July 15, 2018.

Two weeks after supermarket chain Hy-Vee recalled pasta salad at all of its 244 stores in eight states in the Midwest, federal health officials are almost quadrupling their count of consumers stricken by salmonella linked with the product.

The affected products were sold sold in 1-pound (16 oz.) and 3-pound (48 oz.) plastic containers or may have been scooped at the deli counter into clear plastic containers. The expiration date on the salad packaging ranges from June 22 to August 3. You may be part of this Hy Vee Salmonella outbreak.

If you purchased any of the recalled pasta salad and stored it in another container, throw the pasta salad away and make sure you thoroughly wash the container with warm, soapy water before using it again to remove harmful germs that could contaminate other food.
