He described Mr Trump as "unethical", "racist" and a "bigot", adding that he wanted to "preserve the integrity of the Walk Of Fame".

The West Hollywood City Council passed a resolution Monday night to have President Trump's star removed from the Hollywood Walk of Fame, according to a tweet by the city's mayor.

Based on these factors, the City of West Hollywood is recommending the City Council of Los Angeles and the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce order the immediate removal of Trump's Walk of Fame Star, as his actions should "not be acceptable in the Hollywood and entertainment industry communities".

President Donald Trump's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame could be removed.

Since his election as US President, the star awarded to Donald Trump in 2007 has been a frequent target for those wishing to express their disaffection for his performance and politics.

Trump co-owned the Miss Universe Organization, which also included the Miss USA and Miss Teen USA pageants, for almost 20 years.

Hollywood Chamber of Commerce CEO Leron Gubler knocked down a proposal to remove Bill Cosby's star in 2015, saying, "Once a star has been added to the Walk, it is considered a part of the historic fabric of the Hollywood Walk of Fame". The marker has been repeatedly vandalized since Trump took office and been destroyed on twice.

The star is one of more than 2,600 set into the pavements on Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Avenue. In a separate incident, a man vandalized the star with a sledgehammer and a pickax.

Clay could face up to three years in jail if convicted.
