Angelina Jolie accuses Brad Pitt of slacking on child support payments

The ongoing saga of the Brangelina split is back in the headlines after Angelina Jolie's attorneys filed a complaint that claims Brad Pitt has paid no "meaningful" child support since the couple announced their intention to divorce almost two years ago.

Angelina Jolie has reportedly claimed that her estranged husband Brad Pitt has not paid any "meaningful" in the last 18 months, but sources claim the allegations are a publicity stunt to try and make him look bad. It's not been made clear what agreement they previously reached, if any, regarding child support.

According to documents obtained by NBC News, the 43-year-old actress/director claims Pitt has not stuck to the "informal" deal they had in place following their separation in September, 2016 - and now she wants back pay.

Jolie was granted physical custody of all six children in a December 2016 custody agreement, but last month, she was ordered by a judge to help fix the children's relationship with their father. In June, however, the court ordered Jolie to help fix Pitt's relationships with his children, as "not having a relationship with their father is harmful to them".

The judge warned Jolie directly, "If the minor children remain closed down to their father and depending on the circumstances surrounding this condition, it may result in a reduction of the time they spend with [Jolie] and may result in the Court ordering primary physical custody to [Pitt]". Per the filing, Jolie intends to file for retroactive child support.

Pitt's net worth as of 2018 has been estimated at around $240 million.

She asked the judge to arrange a meeting to discuss the issue. Jolie's net worth is slightly smaller, estimated at $160 million.

People close to Pitt think that Jolie pre-emptively filed the papers as a warning shot, because Pitt had told her he wanted to restart the formal divorce process.

The incident was reported and Pitt was investigated by both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services, but was later cleared of wrongdoing.

Pitt and Jolie also have three children together, biologically: their daughter Shiloh was born in 2006, and their twins Knox and Vivienne were born in 2008.
