The cleaning crew quickly alerted their manager after their findings at 5 AM this morning where the authorities were called to properly deal with the matter.

Flight 1942 arrived in NY from Charlotte, N.C., around 10:45 p.m. Monday.

The fetus was believed to be five or six months along.

The Executive Director for Public Affairs in the chief medical examiner's office Aja Worthy-Davis released the following statement to WSOC.

"According to American Airlines, the plane was taken out of service, causing a slight delay in the morning, but the airline was able to find another aircraft to accomodate passengers".

The airline later said in a statement: "As we continue to learn more about this tragic and sensitive situation, we are actively cooperating with law enforcement in its investigation".

A spokesperson for the Queens District Attorney Richard Brown, whose jurisdiction includes the airport, declined to comment.

The cleaning crew immediately contacted their manager, who in turn contacted law enforcement, Franco said.

The flight landed at Terminal B Monday night.
