Iran to North Korea: US Can't Be Trusted

Turkey will continue to buy natural gas from Iran despite US sanctions

On May 8, Trump withdrew unilaterally the USA from the 2015 nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, and ordered restoration of sanctions against Iran.

President Trump slammed the Iranian regime with "the most biting sanctions ever imposed" this week; warning global leaders that anyone "doing business with Iran" will "not be doing business with the United States".

"You have all these different pressures and people are getting upset and for the most part, from what we can tell, they're blaming the regime and they're not really blaming the U.S.", Politico foreign affairs correspondent Nahal Toosi said on the Bill Press Show.

The report said the two discussed significant global issues and mutual interests, likely including both country's ongoing nuclear negotiations with the US, and "welcomed further enhancement of relations", according to the state-owned Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

The EU has revived legislation meant to insulate European companies doing business with Iran from U.S. sanctions, instructing them not to comply with Washington's demands, and providing a mechanism to sue the USA in European courts.

"Wherever you see Iranian activity, you see Qassem Soleimani".

On Tuesday, the USA reinstated sanctions targeting the Iranian government's purchase of United States dollars, Iran's trade in gold and other precious metals, and its automotive sector.

Trump brought back the punishing sanctions after unilaterally pulling out of a landmark 2015 deal between Tehran and Western powers to halt Iran's nuclear ambitions.

But the second tranche of sanctions, which kicks in on November 5 and targets Iran's vital oil sector, could be far more damaging - even if several key customers such as China, India and Turkey have refused to significantly cut their purchases. "I am asking for WORLD PEACE, nothing less!" tweeted the President. Petroleum-related transactions and transactions by foreign financial institutions with the Central Bank of Iran will also be affected. "Just ask EU, Russia, China & dozens of our other trading partners".

"The countries now the U.S. is negotiating with have told Washington that they will continue their oil purchases from Iran", he explained.

The new U.S. sanctions, imposed on Tuesday, target Iran's access to dollars and its ability to trade in gold and other precious metals.

"As a result of these measures, the United States has been isolated".

However, a senior USA official said it was "not particularly concerned" by the move because many major firms had already announced they were pulling out of Iran.

"The performance of the USA government over the years is such that today the United States is recognized as an unreliable country in the world that does not adhere to any of its obligations", the President said, calling for the "expansion of relations and cooperation" between Tehran and Pyongyang.
