"I kept spontaneously crying, and I feel like I'm probably going to do it now", Ruby gushed.

A standalone Batwoman TV show is also now in development at the CW, though a premiere date has not been set. Kane is described as a highly trained street fighter with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind.

"I feel like the reason I keep getting so emotional is because, you know, growing up watching TV, I never saw somebody on TV that I could identify with, let alone a superhero, you know", Rose explained before taking a moment to regain her composure.

The announcement that Ruby Rose will play Batwoman in The CW's Arrowverse was huge for fans and it turns out it was huge for Rose as well. Rose shared her big news in an emotional Instagram post. Thank you everyone. Thank you god, ' wrote the Australian bombshell.

The character of Batwoman has been openly gay in the comics since 2006 when she was reintroduced as a lesbian of Jewish descent.

Visiting The Tonight Show on Wednesday, Rose said that she learned about landing the superhero role shortly before hitting the red carpet earlier this week for the megashark movie The Meg.

Batwoman is being overseen by producer Greg Berlanti, and written by Caroline Dries (The Vampire Diaries).

As previously reported, Rose will star in The CW's adaptation of the comic book for its connected superhero universe that already includes shows like "The Flash" and "Supergirl". They are also working on a solo series for the character.

She has dated women and is open about her gender fluidity. "They're going to be like, 'She doesn't look so good, '" she said.

I have nothing against Ruby Rose but I think they could do a better job to find someone who can match Kathy Kane better.

"I know a lot of people don't understand that, but I know a few of you do".
