Sony Building Spider-Man Universe; Wants Avengers

It's been a complicated road to understanding the relationship between Sony's series of Spider-Man-less spinoff movies and the mainline Marvel Cinematic Universe. Thanks to the two studios' mutual appreciation of just how valuable a main character Spider-Man is, Sony's reportedly amenable to the idea of finding more walk-on roles for MCU characters in future Spider-Man films - much like Spidey himself stowed away with Tony Stark in Avengers: Infinity War.

Spider-Man: Far From Home gets released July 5, 2019. Along with Morbius, Sony has brought in writer Richard Wenk (Equalizer 2) to start on a script that will cover one of Spider-Man's most famous foes, Kraven the Hunter. Characters like Silk, Jackpot, and Nightwatch are also being considered for features. The day they wrapped, he told the magazine, he was on a transatlantic flight to see his 33-year-old pal tie the knot.

The first trailer for Venom gives the movie a dark, violent that had fans speculating the film would be Sony's first R-Rated Marvel movie, but according to a report from Variety, it is increasingly unlikely that will happen.

Original director of the Sliver & Black film, Gina Prince-Bythewood is likely to take a producer credit on both the Black Cat and Silver Sable film, but will not stay to be writer or director for either project.

"We believe Black Cat is enough of her own character with a great backstory and a canon of material to draw from to justify her own film", said Panitch. "Because our character does not originate from Spider-Man, it makes no sense to put a spider on his chest". "There are villains, heroes, and antiheroes, and a lot are female characters, many of whom are bona fide, fully dimensionalized, and utterly unique".
