Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth Are Causing Star Trek 4 Problems

Star Trek 4 May Lose Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth

Star Trek 4 May Lose Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth

And it simply won't have the same resonance if two other actors step in for Pine and Hemsworth.

Pine was due to reprise his role as Captain James T. Kirk, with Hemsworth returning to his role as Kirk's father George Kirk, a part he played in the 2009 reboot.

Of the 1000 Star Treks all vying to be a real thing, one of them is a movie where Kirk (or someone, I don't know) travels through time and gets to meet his hunky dad, who was played by Chris Hemsworth in the JJ Abrams reboot.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the talks between the Chrises' representation and Paramount have stalled with both sides walking away from negotiations. Hemsworth has been attached to the film since 2016, when the project was first announced.

It is believed Pine, 37, has been signed up to the fourth Star Trek since he made his deal for 2016's Star Trek Beyond, while Hemsworth has been attached to the project since its announcement in 2016. The project is set to be directed by S. J. Clarkson (Jessica Jones, Succession), the first woman to direct a Star Trek film in franchise history. However, the disappointing box office of Star Trek Beyond appeared to slow down progress on the sequel.

The question Star Trek fans have to ask is: what will happen to the remaining members of the cast, including Zoe Saldana, Zachary Quinto, John Cho, Simon Pegg, and Karl Urban? However, the studio isn't willing to do so, "forcing the actors to take pay cuts as they try to budget a movie that's following a mediocre performer". Pine though has been the leading man of the Star Trek films since 2009's Star Trek.

Are you looking forward to Star Trek 4?

THR reports that one insider says the companies actually lost money on the movie. The Marvel, DC and Star Wars movies all regularly pull in north of $700 million if they don't reach $1 billion worldwide. That was higher than the $228 million domestic for Star Trek Into Darkness.

Hemsworth meant to return by time travel as Kirk's father but also chose to exit.
