"Perfect World Entertainment has had a strong working relationship with Max Schaefer, dating back to the original "Torchlight" game, and we believe in his vision to evolve the "Torchlight" series", said Perfect World Entertainment senior vice president of publishing Yoon Im.

When Torchlight and Hob developer Runic Games was shut down past year, the developer said: "For those that love the Torchlight series, there will be some news coming".

Set in the same beloved Torchlight universe from Torchlight I and II, this shared-world action RPG brings back numerous franchise's signature features and mechanics that captured the hearts of action RPG fans around the world. Despite this, the shared-world action-RPG does feature elements of what made the original Torchlight games so popular.

But again, it's unclear whether Torchlight Frontiers, the newly announced game, is sticking to series tradition. The franchise was originally developed by Runic Games, which closed in 2017. We also know it is coming to PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Publisher Perfect World Entertainment didn't deny the existence of a sequel, but it seemed likely that it would pass over the Diablo-inspired game to focus on other projects. "Two is to create a service game where, after we go live and we put it out and are with people, we can continue to develop the world of Torchlight with our community". "The team is building something truly special, and we can't wait for fans to play it for the first time at Gamescom and PAX West", he said. The shared world part points to an online only game with persistent servers and procedurally generated worlds. Torchlight Frontiers is definitely still a Torchlight game, don't worry.
