You hear Kelly tell Omarosa the firing can be done one of 2 ways. the easy way or the hard way.

On Sunday, "Meet the Press" aired a audio of a conversation Newman said was surreptitiously recorded of White House chief of staff John Kelly firing her.

The accusations are among a long list of scandalous claims contained in her new book, "Unhinged", set to come out August 14.

Ms Manigault Newman said in the book that she had not personally heard the recording, but that pollster Frank Luntz had heard the President use the racial slur.

Omarosa Manigault Newman campaigns for then-candidate Donald Trump in Charlotte on October 14, 2016.

"I think that Omarosa unfortunately has undercut her own credibility", Conway said, saying the author had previously given "a glowing appraisal of Donald Trump". GOP spokeswoman Ronna McDaniel and others also played up the national-security implications of her clandestine recording, though it's not like this administration has been diligent about security enforcement in the West Wing before.

Manigault Newman said that she had a "blind spot" when it came to President Trump. But Frank Luntz, a political consultant who is reportedly mentioned in Newman's book, called her claims a complete lie.

"We're going to talk to you about leaving the White House", Kelly tells Newman in the recording.

One former White House official employed in the West Wing while Omarosa was there told DailyMail.com on Friday that 'it never happened'. "And now she writes a book and all of a sudden she's like an oracle".

"It's very obvious", she said.

Manigault Newman landed in Washington D.C. on Saturday to kick off a publicity tour for her soon to be released book, "Unhinged", that is chock-full of explosive - though unverified - details about life in the White House.

She also claimed Americans were being kept in the dark about the president's mental decline saying: "I was complicit with this White House deceiving this nation". His comments Sunday come as some have speculated he may be willing to cooperate with investigators and turn on Trump.

In her interview with Todd, Manigault Newman called on the White House to release her employee file so "the American people will see that I worked my butt off for this country".

The offer of money and a job in exchange for signing a non-disclosure agreement, however, raised Manigault Newman's hackles. "No one. So, I protected myself, and I'm so glad I did".

It is unclear from the recording what specific "integrity violations" Kelly believed Manigault Newman had committed, but her differences with Kelly have been noted before and make up something of a subplot in her recent book where she parts starkly with Trump and criticizes his character. The official said their approach would be similar to their response to Michael Wolff's "Fire and Fury" roll out.
