Brazil went up against the United States in a Federation Internationale de Football Association friendly tie and won 2-0 as both teams began their preparations for the Qatar World Cup 2022.

Liverpool recruit Fabinho went to ground under minimal contact and Neymar - unfazed by the protests - casually converted from the spot.

Tite handed the permanent captaincy to Neymar after scrapping his rotation policy and the Paris Saint-Germain superstar enjoyed a winning start as skipper in New Jersey, where Brazil prevailed thanks to a two-goal first half on Friday. The tricky winger set up Brazil's opener with a sensational turn of pace and he nearly teed up Neymar in the second half - his range of passing on show.

In its first match since a quarterfinal loss to Belgium at the World Cup, Brazil improved to 18-1 against the USA - with 11 straight wins since a 1-0 defeat in the 1998 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Neymar will start in the attack alongside Roberto Firmino and Douglas Costa and the trio will be a handful for the United States of America backline.

The World Cup in Russian Federation did not go according to plan for pre-tournament favourites Brazil and while it hurt, it was a blip Tite's South American giants will recover from as they eye 2019 Copa America glory, and more.

Brazil maintained its strong tradition with an easy win on Friday, thanks to the goals by forwards Roberto Firmino at the 11th minute and Neymar converting a penalty at the 43rd.

The best US chance was Weston McKennie's left-footed shot off a Kellyn Acosta pass in the 66th, which went wide.

"The ability to connect passes was a difficult chore for our group early in the game", Sarachan said, "and when you concede possession against a team like Brazil, it makes it hard". The temporary grass field installed over the artificial turf had some brown patches and was immediately removed to prepare for the New York Giants' opener Sunday against Jacksonville.

Both teams made several changes in the second half, with Arthur, Lucas Paqueta, Everton and Richarlison all making their debuts for Brazil. The U.S. also plays England and Italy in November. Dede entered in the 80th, his first appearance in five years.
