Alvarez is scheduled to fight Gennady Golovkin in a title bout Saturday in Las Vegas. After failing two drug tests in February for clenbuterol and pushing the date from May 5 to September 15, Golovkin and his team have labeled Alvarez as a "cheater" - even though the latter has said on numerous occasions that contaminated meat caused the positive results.

For the opening HBO PPV bout, former four-division world champion and former pound-for-pound king Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez (46-2, 38 KOs), 31, of Nicaragua, who is returning from a one-year layoff and back-to-back losses, was 114.8 pounds for his 10-round junior bantamweight bout against former strawweight world titlist Moises Fuentes (25-5-1, 14 KOs), 30, of Mexico, who was 116 pounds.

A year ago, this was the biggest fight in the world.

For the most part, the animosity between the two men has had a ring of authenticity about it.

Judge Byrd was subsequently withdrawn from ringside duties for a short time by the Nevada State Athletic Commission before being asked to explain her scoring of the fight in a later inquest.

The Golovkin camp has been relentless in chastising Alvarez for the failed test and postponement of the rematch.

"I'm bothered by all the stupid things they've been saying and I've been using it as motivation in my training for this fight".

In their first meeting, Alvarez fought cagily, deftly slipping away on the ropes and consistently circling to the left to avoid the Kazakh's fearsome jab. "I know that if I get angry and closed-minded, that I might make some mistakes, and it will be wrong". Alvarez's official purse is $5 million, and Golovkin's is $4 million. Judge Adalaide Byrd scored the fight 118-110 Alvarez over GGG, who many thought was the victor.

This time around, Golovkin plans to leave nothing to chance, promising to take the decision out of the judge's hands by winning inside the distance.

Byrd only gave Golovkin the fourth and seventh round of the fight.

Golovkin trainer Abel Sanchez hopes he does just that.

"And if he fights him, he's going to get knocked out".

Some thought Alvarez shied away from a physical brawl with Golovkin that betrayed the warrior reputation that Mexican fighters and fans embrace. "I've got to make sure when he's vulnerable I take advantage of that". "It's kind of disappointing, because I think this is probably going to be the best fight boxing is going to put on this year".

"This fight means a lot to me because of all that has happened and all that has been said", Alvarez said.
