In other "Nintendo's being weird about online again" news, you also won't be able to play your Switch Online NES games without a weekly online check-in.

Thankfully, we can have our cake and eat it too. While a lot of what was found was standard stuff, new character icons and taglines for Switch Online, one interesting find was some new controller icons. If the teasers are anything to go by, it's going to look absolutely bangin'. Ultimate bundle, you will receive a dock featuring challengers from the original version in the series along with a code to download the game once it becomes available. This announcement made sense because NES games are coming to the Switch as part of Nintendo's online service. However, as previously announced, Super Smash Bros. Nintendo's suggestion here is to save your data locally, as this can then be transferred back to the cloud when you renew, but this naturally defeats the whole goal of the feature and only seems to apply to the NES game portion of the service.

The new controller will start shipping to users in a bundle of two starting mid-December. No word yet on whether or not you can buy a single controller individually. First of all they are only compatible with Nintendo Switch Online's NES games. In terms of pricing, a 1-month membership costs £3.49 ($3.99); 3-months cost £6.99 ($7.99); and a 12-month membership costs £17.99 ($19.99). That doesn't appear to be the case with the Switch unless Nintendo clarifies further in the future.

Additionally, Nintendo clarified how access to the digital library of NES games will work.

A host of Final Fantasy games are coming to Switch including Final Fantasy VII, IX, X, XII and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles and Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition.
