Willian: I want an extra five years at Chelsea

Maurizio Sarri is open to the idea of former captain John Terry joining the Chelsea coaching staff.

John Terry is a free agent after leaving Aston Villa at the end of the last season, following the club's falure to secure promotion to the Premier League.

Sarri said: 'The last time I spoke with him, about a week ago, he told me that he wants to play for another season.

Terry said his goodbyes to Chelsea last summer, calling time on a phenomenal career at Stamford Bridge, during which he established himself among the greatest players ever to pull on the shirt. He would be a point of reference for me and everybody here.

"In a few days, one week, he will be ready to play".

Steve Bruce has been trying to persuade Aston Villa's new owners to make a move for John Terry. At the moment Fabregas is able to be on the bench.

Chelsea are in action at home to Cardiff City on Saturday but Sarri believes they are still a long way from title contenders despite four wins out of four so far.

"After considerable thought, I have made a decision to decline a contract offer from Spartak Moscow", Terry wrote. Fortunately, we have very strong young players: "Loftus-Cheek, Hudson-Odoi, Ampadu. and I'd like to give them the right space". "Not really, because tomorrow is a very hard game, a very hard match", Sarri said, via the Evening Standard.

"Mentally the match after the (international) break it is very hard; materially because we will play against a very physical team", he said.

"We need another step, I think, to be the same level".

"My feeling is that now we are not a very solid team in the defensive phase".

"If we want to take the points, we will need a very good performance tomorrow". In the last days, there was an offer from Aston Villa and Tammy sadly chose to go there so I don't know what to say about it.
