Jurgen Klopp described Liverpool's performance in the 2-1 win at Tottenham as their best so far in a flawless start to the season.

Firmino was transported to Moorfields Eye Hospital to be assessed and manager Jurgen Klopp admitted after the game that he didn't know the severity of his forward's injury.

A long-throw in from Danny Rose into the Liverpool box initially appeared to have been dealt with, however, as Son Heung-min found himself with the ball at his feet bearing down on the Liverpool goal, the incoming Sadio Mane appeared to make contact with the South Korean. A lot of people watch our games when we play Champions League and that's our job that we do the best we can do in all these games. Amusing. I haven't seen it back, I only saw the situation from 60 yards away so I've no clue what exactly happened.

Liverpool sit at the top of the Premier League table on 15 points from five games, having conceded just two goals so far.

Liverpool were deserving winners but had to endure a nervy finish when Erik Lamela pulled one back for the hosts late on.

Tottenham, meanwhile, are aiming to bounce back from their disappointing defeat by Watford before the worldwide break.

"He came from another league playing in a completely different system to us and that takes time". I don't know exactly at the moment, but it's something with his eye.

"I see Tottenham as a team like us, wanting to play good football".

However, Liverpool preserved their ideal start with five wins from five after coming through arguably their biggest test yet.

Time will tell if Liverpool are good enough to win a major trophy this season but there is no doubt this squad is improving and looking stronger than it has done for many years.

There was plenty for Klopp to be happy about, despite the Reds' lack of clinical finishing, as he now looks ahead to Tuesday's Champions League group stage tie against PSG. So now we have to prove that and do it again and again and again, and see if we can do so.
