'Murphy Brown': Hillary Clinton Jokes About Her Email Scandal in Surprise Cameo

Murphy Brown

The classic sitcom Murphy Brown made its return to television this week and its season premiere included a special appearance.

In the episode, she arrived at Murphy's news show, Murphy in the Morning, to interview for the "secretarial position", making several tongue-in-cheek references to some of Clinton's most high-profile moments during her 2016 presidential campaign.

Clinton says she's worked as a secretary before. Namely: Hillary Clinton's surprise cameo!

"And I also assume you've had previous experience secretarial experience?"

Murphy asks whether she has the requisite computer and email skills.

"We've always tried to blur the lines between fiction and reality" said creator and show-runner Diane English, according to Variety.

"Absolutely", Clinton replied. "For four years, I was the secretary... of a very large organization".

To say people were stoked about the Murphy Brown revival would be putting it lightly, but we're not sure if even the craziest of fans were prepared for what actually went down in the premiere. Hillary left her with her business card, which had the email address "Hilary@youcouldahadme.com". Iconic figures in pop culture such as Aretha Franklin appeared, as did big names in the news media, such as Connie Chung, and politics - most notably Dan Quayle from that latter arena. Little did she know that the job applicant was none other than Hillary Clinton.

"Murphy Brown" airs Thursdays at 9:30 p.m. on CBS.
