Trump BLASTS Brett Kavanaugh sexual assault claims as 'CON' and praises 'brilliant' judge

During a rare press conference Wednesday, President Trump defended his embattled his Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh from multiple allegations of sexual misconduct. So far the White House and Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee have declined to ask for the FBI to investigate the decades-old allegations against Kavanaugh - all of which the federal appeals court judge has denied.

On Tuesday, the White House indicated that President Trump could support hearing testimony from a second accuser of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Trying to illustrate his point that Democrats had made up their minds about Kavanaugh's appointment, the president said even Washington wouldn't garner votes.

"I can only say what they've done to this man is incredible", he said. He also took aim at Senate Democrats, calling the entire ordeal "a big, fat con job".

Embittered at how a once-assured confirmation process for Judge Brett Kavanaugh has unraveled, Trump hoped to wrest back control during the early evening appearance in NY.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell reiterated that the chamber will hold a vote on confirming Kavanaugh to a lifetime post on the top US court in the aftermath of a Judiciary Committee hearing set for Thursday in which Kavanaugh and a woman who has accused him of sexual assault will testify. His accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, will testify before him in the open session.

Trump was largely incoherent in responding to questions about the sexual assault accusations against Kavanaugh, offering an undecipherable knot of lies and contradictions. 'He also has a lifetime of a record of empowering and respecting women and you have seen hundreds of women that know him and know him well come out and say exactly that.

"These are all false to me", he said. Swetnick claimed that in the 1980s, she witnessed efforts by Kavanaugh and his classmate, Mark Judge, to get teenage girls "inebriated and disoriented so they could then be "gang raped" in a side room or bedroom by a "train" of numerous boys".

The sensational claims have thrust Judge Kavanaugh into a media storm as the allegations continue to pile up.

With so much in limbo, there was no grand strategy at play other than Trump's call for a more forceful defense of Kavanaugh. It's the Democrats who have been halting it from the beginning and not allowing this to go through the process because they want this to be a political game and I think that the way that they have operated in this is absolutely appalling, ' Sanders said. In a Tuesday morning tweet, Avenatti said the woman would come forward only when she is ready but said he expects that to be within 36 hours. "Just so you understand". He defended his decision to meet again with North Korean despot Kim Jong Un, while at the same time launching a new attack on Canada, a longtime USA ally.

"Does that sound like someone who wants to get the real facts no matter where they fall?" But Trump signaled that he was inclined to keep Rosenstein on board and may even delay that planned meeting. It's fine, he has argued time and time again, because this or that world leader loves him and he loves the people of their country.

Trump called on reporters at will, often taking time to malign or praise their respective news outlets.
