The Braves and Dodgers open their NLDS in Los Angeles, and Atlanta has a chance to jump ahead before facing Clayton Kershaw in Game 2. The Dodgers were 28th in walks allowed.

"He was in control".

"He had command to both sides of the plate, command at the secondary", Roberts said. It would be surprising to see Kershaw lose this one, but it's baseball, and we all have learned to expect the unexpected.

The Dodgers are 17-6 against Atlanta at Dodger Stadium since the start of the 2013 season, including a 3-0 record in the postseason. He laughed upon realizing the gaffe.

"I don't know that moving guys around, giving them different looks in the lineup when you're swinging the bats like we are is even the answer, " he said, "but we'll try something a little different". This game wraps up a busy 2018 Major League Baseball postseason schedule today as all eight teams were in action.

"We looked at it and we were kind of (telling) the guys that (Kershaw) was getting ahead with the fastball and we had them be on the attack for it", Braves manager Brian Snitker said. It concluded when he gave up four runs and six hits in five innings, including two home runs, in a 4-1 loss to the Dodgers. It was a odd start for Kershaw as he struck out eleven batters but the results were not good at all.

Foltynewicz's roughest stretch all season came in a four-start span when he gave up 18 earned runs in 23 1/3 innings.

Why are the Dodgers waiting to start Clayton Kershaw until game 2 of the NLDS? Other than that, it was a pretty quiet night for the offense.

Injured shortstop Dansby Swanson didn't make the Atlanta Braves' roster for the National League Division Series. The Yankees beat the Athletics 7-2 Wednesday night in the AL wild-card game to set up the AL East showdown.

Rookie Ronald Acuna Jr. struck out twice and went 0 for 4 as the Baby Braves were blanked.

The Brewers will begin their NL Division Series against the Rockies with a bullpen game at Miller Park.

Joc Pederson's leadoff shot in the bottom of the first rattled Mike Foltynewicz in his postseason debut. Efficiency was the name of the game, as Kershaw was at just 60 pitches (!) through six innings. Two hits. No walks. He got out of a two-out, bases-loaded jam in the first by striking out Yasiel Puig.

He found trouble again in the second. Turner walked in front of Muncy, who lifted a Foltynewicz pitch into the seats in right-center field for a 4-0 lead.

Yelich had put the Brewers up with a two-run homer in the third.

Colorado pinch hitter Gerardo Parra led off with a single and Matt Holliday added a single up the middle.

Ryu allowed a two-out single to Freddie Freeman in the first. Atlanta didn't advance a runner past second base in Game 1 and twice got runners to third in Game 2, but couldn't score. With fans on their feet waving blue towels and the crowd of 50,947 chanting his name, Ryu got Inciarte on a swinging strikeout to end the inning. From that point, Kershaw would retire the next 14 Braves hitters, without incident.
