MSNBC reporter Garrett Haake on Friday seemed to be over and done with Maine Republican Senator Susan Collins' "will-she-or-won't-she" schtick, as Americans waited for her 3:00 pm announcement about how she would vote on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Brett Kavanaugh was sworn in as a Supreme Court justice Saturday night after the bitterly polarized U.S. Senate narrowly confirmed him.

In a procedural vote Friday that handed Republicans an initial victory, senators voted 51-49 to limit debate, defeating Democratic efforts to scuttle the nomination with endless delays. Joe Manchin, D-W.V., said Friday they would vote to confirm Kavanaugh.

"Ms. Keyser does not know Mr.Kavanaugh and she has no recollection of ever being at a party or gathering where he was present, with, or without, Dr. Ford", Keyser's legal counsel has stated.

And Democrats - and other critics of Kavanaugh's - believe misleading statements he made under oath should disqualify him from the bench. He angrily denied the accusations.

Republicans control the Senate by a 51-49 margin, and Saturday's roll call seems destined to be almost party-line, with just a single defector from each side.

Nadler's comments resembled those of Senate Democrats who pushed aggressively for an FBI investigation into allegations by three women - Christine Blasey Ford, Deborah Ramirez and Julie Swetnick - that Kavanaugh had engaged in sexual assault or misconduct.

Former National Security Advisor Susan Rice raised her hand when President Obama's former communications director asked which Dem would be willing to challenge Sen.

But she is also under great pressure from Kavanaugh opponents in ME, where activists have been crowdfunding a hypothetical Democratic opponent for 2020 should she vote "yes".

Republican Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, a fellow moderate and friend of Collins, became the only Republican to say she opposed Kavanaugh.

The revelations came in texts from McLean to Keyser, which were among the materials the FBI sent to the White House and Senate as part of its seventh background investigation into Kavanaugh.

In the moment that made clear Kavanaugh would prevail, Collins delivered a speech saying that Ford's Judiciary Committee telling of the alleged 1982 assault was "sincere, painful and compelling".

The Maine senator is under enormous pressure to vote for Kavanaugh, and she has indicated that she is leaning in that direction. With Republicans clinging to a two-vote majority, one Republican voted to stop the nomination, one Democrat to send it further. With the confirmed support of him and Collins, the likely final Senate vote is 51-49.

Murkowski said she would vote no on his confirmation.

If no senators change their votes from Friday's cloture roll call, the final tally will sit at 50-48 at Saturday's final confirmation vote, enough for Republicans to confirm Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court with no senator holding the sole deciding vote.
