Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said his country will not pay Washington for its own security, saying his oil-rich kingdom was created even before the US itself.

Human rights groups are demanding Saudi Arabia clarify Khashoggi's whereabouts. Saudi Arabia's ambassador in Ankara was summoned to the Turkish Foreign Ministry for an explanation over the incident, while Saudi officials announced they were coordinating with Turkish authorities about the circumstances of his disappearance.

According to his fiance, a Turkish woman called Hatice A., Khashoggi went to the consulate three days ago and has not re-emerged.

The Committee to Protect Journalists called the situation "a cause for alarm", while Lynn Maalouf, Middle East research director at Amnesty International, called on the Saudi authorities to prove that Khashoggi left the consulate as they have claimed.

A spokesman for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told reporters Wednesday that authorities believed the journalist is still there. "We continue to seek information". He gave her his mobile phones for safekeeping, something common as embassies throughout the Middle East routinely require phones to be left outside as a security precaution. In this, Saudi Arabia will face a plethora of challenges, seen in this week's sudden Saudi Arabia-Kuwait talks on restarting oil production in the Neutral Zone.

"I love working with him". He is not a suspect, he has not been convicted.

The Post said it was "extremely concerned" about Khashoggi. "The higher price that we have in the last month, it's not because of Iran", he said. Meanwhile, a Saudi official quoted by Reuters claimed that Khashoggi was "not in the consulate nor in Saudi custody".

He is well-known for his work interviewing Osama bin Laden, for his stint as deputy editor-in-chief of Arab News between 1999 and 2003, and his role as former general manager and editor-in-chief of Al Arab News Channel.

In the coming days, Saudi government statements will be important in indicating what has happened to Khashoggi and whether Saudi policies towards dissidents overseas may have become more interventionist. Its billionaire backer was detained in the Ritz Carlton roundup overseen by Prince Mohammed in 2017. The so-called OPEC+ coalition spans other Gulf producers like the United Arab Emirates, as well as countries outside OPEC such as Russian Federation.

In February, Khashoggi wrote in a column that restrictions on freedom of speech imposed by the crown prince had "sucked the oxygen from the once-limited but present public square".

Prince Mohammed bin Salman said that OPEC is doing everything possible thing they can to prevent oil prices from rising.
