Conor McGregor's next fight most likely to be rematch against Khabib Nurmagomedov

But the carnage that followed the bout - which saw Nurmagomedov charge into the crowd and attack McGregor team member Dillon Danis - has thrown the Russian fighter's future into doubt as he faces potential sanctions.

"The Nevada Athletic Commission pulled footage from us and there's an investigation going on", UFC President Dana White said at a post-fight press conference, as transcribed by SB Nation's Bloody Elbow blog.

But all that aside, Nurmagomedov proved himself the superior fighter at T-Mobile Arena, and while there will be calls from some for a rematch with Conor McGregor, the only fight for this division will be between "The Eagle" and the man in the number two spot on this list...

White told reporters for ESPN that the Nevada State Atheltic Commission is now holding both McGregor's and Nurmagomedov's fight checks until further notice. He and a group of people illegally entered the venue for the event and attacked a bus in an attempt to get to Nurmagomedov in retaliation for him confronting McGregor's friend and teammate Artem Lobov.

"This is not my best side.my father is going to smash me when I get home", Nurmagomedov said.

"I've been doing this for 18 years and on the biggest night ever, I couldn't be more disappointed".

McGregor also mentioned the name of former middleweight king Anderson Silva before his fight with Nurmagomedov - hailing him as a "legend" of the game and touting the notion that he would be interested in taking on the Brazilian. And the same thing for the other guy.

"My account was hacked, I just want to make you are that this was not me." wrote De La Hoya on Twitter.

Bisping opined that once Nurmgomedov took McGregor's back in the fourth round, the Irishman was looking for a way out of the fight. "We'll see. I don't know".

"Conor is going to come out the victim here and Khabib is going to have a very hard time getting a visa or a green card". "We had two [security] meetings tonight, one of them two fights before the main event".
