She will be based in Los Angeles.

The former White House communications director Hope Hicks is heading to Fox, the company announced on Monday.

"She is as smart and thoughtful as they come, a truly great person", Trump said in a statement after her White House resignation, adding: "I am sure we will work together again in the future".

Fox News is President Donald Trump's favourite cable channel.

According to a press release, Hicks will join "New Fox", the company left following Twenty-First Century Fox's upcoming merger with Disney. The $71 billion sale is likely to be completed early next year. Among other issues, she was involved in crafting the White House's response to the investigation by special counsel Robert S. Mueller III of the Trump campaign's possible ties to Russian operatives who interfered in the 2016 campaign.

Hicks was head of the communications team at the White House before leaving in March. In June, Former Fox News co-president Bill Shine assumed Hicks's former post in Washington just two months after allegations that he'd helped cover up a series of sexual harassment incidents forced him to resign. The executives, Julie Henderson and Nathaniel Brown, are not joining New Fox.

"So happy for my friend", she tweeted.

Dinh also announced the hiring of Danny O'Brien from General Electric as head of government affairs for the new company. O'Brien served as Joe Biden's chief of staff during a portion of his tenure in the Senate.
