Walt Disney Studios took to Twitter sharing the poster after Smith, saying to check out the first look of the live-action remake on Thursday, hinting at a trailer debut or first official set photos.

Will Aladdin work as a live-action movie?

The first teaser image for Disney's live-action Aladdin film has been released.

For the animated version, the voice cast included Robin Williams, Scott Weinger, Linda Larkin, Jonathan Freeman, Gilbert Gottfried, Jim Cummings, and more.

Directed by Guy Ritchie, Aladdin also stars Mena Massoud as Aladdin, Naomi Scott as Jasmine, Marwan Kenzari as Jafar, as well as Billy Magnussen and Nasim Pedrad as both a new character and a friend to Jasmine. As fans of the 1992 animated movie know, Aladdin frees Genie from the lamp and uses his first wish to become Prince Ali Ababwa, a worthy suitor for Princess Jasmine. If you were expecting an irreverent Guy Ritchie spin on the material, that's unlikely to happen. It's one of the best films in what's known as the "Disney Renaissance", in which the House of Mouse returned to making animated musical films. The producer is Dan Lin (The LEGO Movie) with Golden Globe victor Marc Platt (La La Land), Jonathan Eirich (Death Note) and Kevin De La Noy (The Dark Knight Rises) serving as executive producers.

Aladdin is due in theaters May 24, 2019.
