"I want to hear them say I want to play for Tottenham, to make history, to touch glory with this badge".

"They are confident [in me staying], yes of course", he said.

In a rather weird move, the Argentine likened the situation to that of another woman looking at him whilst he was out with his wife.

"It's like our girlfriend or wife", he said.

Alli penned a new six-year contract to stay at Spurs this week and insisted that working with Pochettino was a big reason for his decision.

"They are sustaining top-four finishes and performing well game-in, game-out, season-in, season-out, and at the highest level I have seen over 30 years. But your wife is so proud and, rather than worrying, she is so happy to be with you and falls more in love with you". Those are things we need to be careful about, we need to have more discipline and be more responsible.

"If I believe Dele or a different player is only going to sign a contract because of me, it is a bad feeling, or I am wrong in my head".

The Argentine has always been touted as a future manager of Los Blancos after the impressive job he has done to turn Tottenham Hotspur from serial "nearly-men" into regular top four finishers - and has done so by playing some fine football.

"The reality is to win titles today is hard for different reasons...but for me it's so exciting to be here at Tottenham, helping the club to achieve the last level".

DF Toby Alderweireld, 6 - Made some important interventions but looked more vulnerable than usual, and Wolves could easily have scored more.

"You know better than me that it is like this and that's why I'm happy with the three points but disappointed because we are talking about experienced players, not younger ones that can learn".

He has now stated though that the need for reinforcements and the likelihood of success in making the right moves will be assessed nearer the time.

The Argentine manager was quick to play down reports of continued offers following Julen Lopetegui's dismissal, suggesting they don't have as volatile an effect as they would seem, especially with his players.

"If you are doing well and you arrive in January, no one is going to change too much".

Spurs will be without Eric Dier as the midfielder has been ruled out for the next two weeks with a thigh injury that he sustained against Man City while Danny Rose is also still missing with an on-going groin problem.
