Rebel Wilson says she "never wants to disrespect anyone" after there was backlash over comments she made about plus-sized women in film.

A fan called out Wilson for making that claim on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" by name-dropping Queen Latifah and Mo'Nique as stars of past romcoms, the Australian actress tried to defend herself. One Twitter user wrote, "I love @RebelWilson as much as the next girl, but she isn't the first plus sized woman to play the lead in a romantic comedy".

Wilson tweeted that she believes there is a "grey area" about whether Queen Latifah and Mo'Nique could be considered plus-size, and whether their films were categorized as single-lead romantic comedies. Mo'Nique, who's earned an Academy-Award for her performance in Precious and was featured in Phat Girlz, took to Twitter to remind 38-year-old Wilson her new gig isn't ground-breaking.

MoNique then responded to Wilson writing, "Hey my sweet sister".

It wasn't long before Mo'Nique herself got involved requesting Rebel "not allow this business to erase [their] talent with giving grey areas and technicalities". "Let's please not allow this business to erase our talent with giving grey areas and technicalities", the Oscar victor said. Take a moment and know the history. "I wish you the best".

When several people pointed out how incorrect her statement was on Twitter, Rebel responded to her white critics but blocked several critics of colour, causing the #RebelWilsonBlockedMe hashtag to start trending. She also said she will address the criticism while promoting the film "in proper forums".

"I'm all about supporting plus-size women and I work so hard to do so".

What Wilson appears to mostly be doing in response to these critiques is blocking people.

Wilson sat down with DeGeneres Oct. 31 to chat about the film, which co-stars Adam DeVine and Liam Hemsworth and opens on Valentine's Day 2019.
