Three men, aged 19, 46 and 49, all from South Norwood, were arrested under section 4a of the Public Order Act along with a a 49-year-old from Lambeth and a 55-year-old from Beckenham after they handed themselves in last night.

The video surfaced on social media on Monday and featured a cardboard replica of the flats set alight, with paper people dangling from the building.

The video, which is believed to have been recorded and shared on a messaging app, quickly went viral on Twitter.

The Grenfell Tower tragedy was the deadliest fire in modern British history and claimed more than 70 lives in June 2017. Residents were forced to flee, remain in sweltering temperatures or jump.

The group placed the effigy on top of the bonfire.

The video, in which the group can be heard laughing as the fire takes hold of the model, emerged on Monday and was met with a public outcry.

"We have support and will carry on with dignity until we get justice". In the background, a St. George's flag can be seen.

MEND, an anti-Islamophobia organization, said the "sickening Islamophobic" video amounted to a hate crime.

"To disrespect those who lost their lives at Grenfell Tower, as well as their families and loved ones, is utterly unacceptable", Ms May tweeted. It also urged anyone present at the gathering to come forward.

'Elhouhabi shamelessly took advantage of the efforts to rehouse people whose homes had been destroyed by claiming his link to one of the flats, and he was subsequently put in hotel accommodation. To mock that disaster in such a crude way is vile.

"Not only is it extremely upsetting to survivors & people who lost family, it's hateful & offensive to everyone that has been affected by the tragic events of that night", the group said.

"I know that the police have been made aware of this video and will work to establish whether any offences have been committed".

He admitted making a false representation to the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, namely that he had been living in Grenfell Tower and was therefore entitled to housing. Numerous victims were people of color and immigrants.
