On March 5th, Ruthie Ann Miles, a Tony award-winning actress, and her friend Lauren Lew were walking in Park Slope with their children-Miles's four-year-old daughter Abigail and Lew's 20-month-old son Joshua-and were crossing 9th Street at Fifth Avenue when Bruns came barreling through a red light.

Dorothy Bruns, 44, was discovered in her Staten Island home along with pills and a note, a senior law enforcement official told NBC 4 NY. Authorities say pills and a note were found nearby.

On March 5, Bruns was behind the wheel of her vehicle when she fatally hit two children in a Brooklyn crosswalk and caused a woman to lose her unborn child.

Bruns suffered a seizure while stopped at a red light, promping her auto to lurch forward into the youngsters and pregnant mother. Blumenstein later lost her unborn child.

Blumemstein, who is a Broadway actress, survived but her unborn baby died as a result of her injuries.

Bruns faced 15 years in prison after being charged with manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, reckless endangerment and assault following the accident in March. Abigail died and her mother, who was 39 weeks pregnant at the time, was injured.

Prosecutors alleged that Bruns continued to drive even though doctors repeatedly warned her not to because of ongoing health issues, which included a multiple sclerosis diagnosis and frequent seizures, the Daily News reported. And in September 2017, she struck a pedestrian in Long Island City, after which the NYPD reportedly failed to investigate the incident.
