"It is against the law to hold protests seeking removal of some scenes from a censor board certified film and trying to stall the screening and damaging the banners", Rajinikanth tweeted in Tamil.

AR Murugadoss directed "Sarkar", a political thriller, hit the screens on Tuesday.

On the other hand, reports are coming that distributors / exhibitors, makers of Sarkar agree to cut controversial scenes from film on the pressure of AIADMK leaders.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter and wrote, "The hugely awaited #Tamil biggie #Sarkar, which opened today, has got fantastic showcasing outside Tamil Nadu as well..."

Actor Rajinikanth has strongly condemned these actions.

"It isn't new for this government to act and pressurize against a film like Sarkar, which has completed its censor formalities properly". They claim that the film is depicting their party and the late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa in a bad light. While the press was sent feelers from Government that they are actually giving protection to the director (which they didn't), Sun Pictures revealed that police went there to arrest the director. "I strongly condemn these". "Commercialised politicians will soon be vanished and the good people would win", Haasan tweeted.

Despite opening to mixed reviews and getting embroiled in controversies, "Sarkar" managed to gross over Rs 100 crore in just two days at the box-office.

The plot of the film revolves around a successful NRI CEO who returns to India for voting in elections but finds his vote has already been exercised.
